ESC is Here to Support Students to be Successful

From the office of Aimee Woznick, Ph.D., Director of Academic Support Services at the Niagara Frontier Center.

We’re officially in the home stretch: students in January term courses have just one month of classes left! (Sorry, March term students, you have a bit longer – your term doesn’t end until June 27 – but I assure you, those three months will flyby!)

So, have you started thset and reach goal conceptinking about your final projects and papers yet…?
Maybe you’d like to schedule an appointment with one of our wonderful writing coaches to get that process going! Here’s a quick reminder who your writing coaches are:

Buffalo/Cheektowaga: Darlene Hapka,
Fredonia: Sue Michaels,
Jamestown: Anton Agafonov,
Lockport: Karen Eichler,
Olean: Jamie Wood,

In each upcoming edition of the Academic Support Minute, I’ll be spotlighting a member of our coaching staff. Today: Lockport coach Karen Eichler!

Karen L. Eichler has been the Learning Coach for writing at Empire State College’s Lockport Unit since 2010, tutoring, presenting writing workshops, and teaching College Writing as well as Creative Writing.  She also serves as the writing coach for the Business Leadership Program. Karen began teaching writing at Niagara University in 1997 and she is still there, currently teaching Public Speaking.  More relevant than you might think is that Karen began her career as an improvisational comedian and corporate trainer in 1997.  In fact, she is a founding member of the two person group Defiant Monkey Improv.  Karen received her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Education in English from SUNY at Buffalo.
